Max Lee Grooms Jr., 52, St. Joseph, died Saturday, December 3, 2011, at Heartland Regional Medical Center.He was born July 31, 1959, to Max L. and Brooke (Beaty) Grooms in St. Joseph.He married Michelle Soltys in 1992.Max attended Missouri Western State College where he earned a Bachelor degree. He was self-employed as Grooms Lawns and was a member of MWSU Gold Coat Board, Moila Shrine and St. Joseph Boat and Yacht Club. He was a MWSU Hall of Fame Inductee 2010 and enjoyed his Scarabs, tractor pulling and NHRA racing.He was preceded in death by his father.Survivors: wife; sons, Mark Grable, Matthew (Amanda) Grooms, Michael (Amber) Grooms and Dylan Grooms, all of St. Joseph; daughters, Mindy Grooms and Lindsey (Chris) Cordonnier, both of St. Joseph; grandchildren, Brylee, Logan, Kenzie, Kaylee, Lillian, Gavin and Leeam; his mother; brothers, Doug Grooms, Brad Grooms and Tom Wolters; sisters, Kelly Grooms and Kerry Harvey; mother-in-law, Dixie (Don) Furr; father-in-law, Ron (Addie) Soltys; numerous nieces and nephews.Service: 10 a.m. Tuesday, Ashland United Methodist Church. Interment: Memorial Park Cemetery.
